Safe Delivery and Dignity Support at Ban-Ban MCH (CRPD), Qansax Dheere

On 28/2/2026, Ban-Ban Maternal and Child Health Center (CRPD) in Qansax Dheere recorded another successful and safe delivery, marking a joyful and hopeful moment for the family and the wider community. The mother, Miido Mohamed Ibrahim from the Aliyow Mad Araale IDP community, safely delivered her baby at our MCH facility under the supervision of our skilled and dedicated healthcare team. Both mother and newborn are in stable condition and continue to receive appropriate postnatal care and monitoring.

This safe delivery is a reflection of the ongoing commitment of CRPD to improve maternal and newborn health services in Qansax Dheere and surrounding areas. Access to skilled birth attendants and facility-based delivery services is essential in preventing maternal and neonatal complications. In fragile and displacement-affected communities, many women face barriers such as limited access to healthcare facilities, financial constraints, and lack of transportation. Through sustained community engagement and accessible services, Ban-Ban MCH continues to encourage mothers to seek antenatal care and deliver in safe, equipped health facilities.

Our trained midwives and healthcare staff provided comprehensive care throughout the labor and delivery process, ensuring that the mother received respectful, compassionate, and professional support. Immediately after birth, both mother and baby were closely monitored to ensure their wellbeing. Counseling on early initiation of breastfeeding, newborn care practices, hygiene, nutrition, and postnatal follow-up visits was also provided to promote long-term health outcomes.

In addition to safe delivery services, the mother received a dignity kit to support her postnatal recovery and personal hygiene needs. Dignity kits are an important component of maternal support, particularly for women from internally displaced communities. They help restore confidence, protect privacy, and ensure that mothers have essential items during the critical post-delivery period. Providing these kits reinforces our commitment not only to saving lives but also to upholding the dignity and respect of every woman we serve.

Ban-Ban MCH (CRPD) continues to serve vulnerable families, particularly those from IDP communities, by ensuring equitable access to quality maternal and child health services. Through outreach activities, health education sessions, antenatal consultations, safe delivery services, immunization programs, and postnatal follow-ups, we aim to reduce preventable maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality in the district.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the Somalia Humanitarian Fund (SHF) for funding this vital project. Their generous support has enabled CRPD to strengthen health service delivery, provide essential medical supplies, support skilled healthcare workers, and distribute dignity kits to mothers in need. The impact of this funding is evident in every safe birth, every healthy mother, and every newborn given a strong start in life. Without this support, many vulnerable women would face significant risks during pregnancy and childbirth.

The partnership between CRPD and SHF demonstrates the power of collaboration in addressing urgent humanitarian health needs. Together, we are building healthier communities, improving maternal health outcomes, and ensuring that even the most vulnerable families have access to life-saving care.

Every safe delivery represents hope, resilience, and progress. Ban-Ban MCH (CRPD) remains committed to protecting mothers, safeguarding newborns, and promoting dignity in every service we provide. We will continue working tirelessly to ensure that no mother is left behind and that every child is given a safe and healthy beginning.
